Lady Gaga opened the show with The Edge of Glory performing on a spider-web then Born This Way with a Big Spider Piano. Hosted by Japanese pop sensation AKB48 and featuring live performances from international, regional and Japanese artists, the staging of MTV Video Music Aid Japan will be the culmination of MTV Japan’s Music of Hope campaign, the multi-platform response to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
